Our Experience With 8Fit
With over 100,000 5-star reviews across the Apple and android app store, I thought it was only right that I download and have a look at one of the most popular fitness apps on the market.
8Fit aim to set themselves apart from other fitness apps out there by driving home the personalization of their training and nutrition programs.
Downloading the app for the first time you could tell that their goal was personalization. Asking you a slough of questions around your age, weight and goals.
Before going into more detail asking you to estimate your bodyfat percentage and weekly exercise routine, and within just a few seconds of processing 8Fit had spit out my own personal exercise and nutrition program.
Before dropping into the main app interface, 8Fit provides you with the first basic warm up to get you ready for your first workout in your program. Although the warm up was extremely basic, what was most noteable was that after completing the workout you are prompted to answer three questions,
- How easy was it?
- Did you enjoy it?
- Why not plan your next workout?
Using the information to refine your program and keep you accountable by penciling in your next workout.
The Feed tab is exactly that. A space for you to stay connected with the 8Fit community, allowing you to,

The soft colour scheme, well spread out information and clear and easy to understand titles made this a truly welcoming introduction into the 8Fit program.

I tried the ‘Rookie’ level ‘Reps’ and ‘Tabata’ workouts.
They were not particularly difficult as you can imagine at rookie level, however, they are a great inclusion for those who are new to the world of health and fitness and the idea of committing to a full 30 – 40 minute workout might seem unattainable.
Once again, I loved the clarity and simplicity of the layout of this page.
From the moment I opened this tab it felt homely, welcoming and easy to use. Secondly, I really appreciate the addition of live classes to the roster of workouts that are on offer, giving fitness newcomers that extra layer of accountability and motivation to get started and stay on track.
The ‘Log’ tab is where you are going to track your progress. Keeping track of everything you do.
The logging function is incredibly smooth and easy to use.
Tracking your actions and progress is extremely important because it allows you to have a distinct starting line, showing you clearly whether the interventions you have put in place (diet and exercise) are having a positive or negative impact on you getting to your goals.
Allowing you to not only identify positive habits and double down, weed out the bad habits.
Now to the ‘Meal’ tab. This is where 8Fit really puts on a show. Similar to the questionaire you answer when signing up to 8Fit, you will be asked a series of questions about your dietary preferences.
- What’s Your Diet Type?
- What Food Do You Dislike?
- What Kind Of Recipes You Want?
- How Many Meals Do You Have Per Day?
- How Much Variety Do You Want?
And just like that within a few seconds 8Fit has generated a weekly meal plan specific to your preferences that you can continue to customize. This is an amazing bonus to signing up to the 8Fit program.
There are few fitness platforms that even come close to the level of dietary customization that 8Fit offers.
What We Like About 8Fit
Simple And Welcoming
8Fit does an excellent job of combining a soft colour palette, simple and easy to read writing and smooth interface to create a warm and welcoming experience.
The 8Fit platform offers a great level of personalization offering several customization options, refining your programming off the feedback you enter into the app.
I have said it before and I will say it again. The meal plans are awesome! Not only does 8Fit have an extensive range of recipes for you to chose from.
8Fit also offers a level of customization that can battle it out with the very best fitness apps on the market.
The workouts are short and efficient however, when you are looking for a bit more of a challenge you might struggle to get it from 8Fit.
Will Not Be Very Useful For More Advanced Users
Due to the short sharp nature of the 8Fit workouts, it is difficult to push yourself to the next level.
More advanced and even some intermediate users may find the workouts a little bit limiting.
