Today we review Body Fit Training South Yarra.
Body Fit Training (BFT) has taken to Fitness Industry by storm, with dozens of locations now across many states in Australia and abroad.
We spent a week training at BFT and experienced their engaging coaches, electric atmosphere, and rock-solid training.
Let’s dive into the review.

What is Body Fit Training?
Founded in 2017 by the highly reputable strength & conditioning coach Cameron Falloon, Body Fit Training is a group fitness experience like no other.
They have elite programming that gets you sustained results, high quality feedback while you perform your lifts and an uplifting community that keeps you coming back for more.
Perhaps the best way to describe BFT is halfway between Crossfit and F45 Training. You’ve got the perfect blend between strength development and cardiovascular enhancement.
It’s fun, exhilarating and you leave every single session feeling a rush of adrenaline, a spring in your step and the guarantee of results to come.

How much is a Body Fit Training Membership?
A ‘No Limits’ Body Fit Training membership costs $65 per week on a fortnightly billing cycle. This membership gives you unlimited access to all classes and you can cancel at any time.
There are no sign up fees or lock-in contracts associated with a Body Fit Training membership.
Although Body Fit Training is on the expensive side when compared to general access gyms, if you attend 6 classes a week, this ends up being $10.80 per class, which is very reasonable for a high-quality workout.
If you are interested in BFT, we recommend training regularly if you want to get the best value for money or alternatively you can try the free trial to see whether it suits your goals, personality and budget.
What’s the Environment at Body Fit Training like?
Above all, Body Fit Training South Yarra is a friendly, welcoming environment.
The trainers are more than willing to offer support and encouragement and most other members are pleasant. There are also television screens to help guide you through the exercises.
It’s important to keep in mind that the classes are very fast-paced, with numerous stations and participants. For a first-time gym-goer, this may not be the setting you’re looking for.
We recommend getting some training experience under your belt, or even a few personal training sessions to grow your confidence and learn basic movement patterns before diving right into BFT.
Most members at BFT are intermediate level or experienced gym-goers.

Body Fit Training Vs. F45
Body Fit Training is indeed very similar to F45 Training, however, there are two key differences between them which make all the difference when it comes to your results.
Firstly, Body Fit Training places a far greater emphasis on progressive strength training. That is, lifting consistently heavier weights over time. Sustained improvements in strength ensures that you continue to see results over the long term.
This phenomenon seems to be lost by F45 Training facilities, which have more of a ‘cardio’ focus.
Secondly, Body Fit Training allows you to visit any of their growing number of locations. This means you can train while you travel or even close by to work. Conversely, F45 Training only allows you to train at your home club.
Community
Social Interaction
Body Fit Training is a flurry of energy, excitement and banter. The trainers regularly engage with members and it felt as if members knew each other relatively well.
Although we only spent a limited amount of time at BFT, we imagine it would be a place that you could easily build relationships with other members.
Coaching
Coaches Matty, Kate & Kate (yes there’s two) are fantastic coaches. They are always up for a chat and are very engaging and motivating with the members.

As its classification suggests, BFT South Yarra is a large group fitness gym. Although Body Fit Training creates a great community feel, if you’re looking to get specific advice with your technique and individual time with a trainer in session, BFT is limited.
There are 2-3 trainers and approximately 25 participants per class, so typically a 1:12 ratio.
As previously mentioned, the fast-paced, back to back nature of each class also limits the ability of the trainers to help individual members with technique.
In saying this BFT offer personal training options for those wanting more specific advice.
Training
Intensity
Every workout we participated in at Body Fit Training South Yarra left us blowing pretty hard.
Although BFT has different classifications of workouts on different days, essentially all workouts adopt a ‘high-intensity interval training’ (HIIT) structure, with each class running for 50 minutes.
Body Fit Training provide wearable heart rate technology so you can track how hard you’re working throughout each workout by looking up at the TV screens.
Typical exercises you will complete will be a variation of cardio and functional strength exercises, with only a limited amount of rest between sets (enough to quickly catch your breath). Most members lift low-moderately resisted weights, rather than any heavy lifts taking place.
Complexity
If you were to join Body Fit Training South Yarra, we would recommend having at least a small amount of experience in a gym.
The movements and workouts are at an intermediate level and require some level of understanding and practise in order to be performed with good technique.
In saying this, if you’ve got a bit of training background behind you, you’ll love getting stuck into BFT!
