FitOn is a digital fitness platform that offering users high quality fitness content presented by celebrities and trainers from around the world.
But behind the glitz and the glam, is FitOn any good?
We downloaded the app, and took a deep dive into the brand and getting stuck into the workouts and will today be providing an in depth review of everything FitOn has to offer so you can it’s the right purchase for you.
Let’s dive in.
FitOn is a digital fitness platform offering founded in 2018 by creator Lindsay Cook.
Lindsay found her self in a predicament. As her life began to overflow as her career developed, Lindsay found it more and more difficult to make time to get into her favourite fitness studio and stay active. Lindsay then ventured online to for assistance, in search of practical, easily accessible workouts she could do on the go, however Lindsay found herself disappointed by the quality of the information she found.
Inspired, Lindsay founded FitOn, so that no matter what life throws your way, everyday people can have access to world-class trainers, rich content and engaging and easy to use tools to help you achieve you fitness goals.
Our Experience With FitOn
From the moment you entered the app store and selected FitOn and opened the app, you could tell that FitOn had a certain level of glamour that other apps just didn’t. The bright pink colours, the beautiful people, the high quality video.
For You Tab
First up the ‘For You’ tab. Like any other social platform, the For You tab acts a hub for all the information you need to have a successful relationship with FitOn.
- Recommended Workouts
- Your Favourite Workouts
- Whats Hot & New
- Stretching Workouts
- Game On – Workout To Win
I particularly likes the suggested ‘Revitalize’ program. This is an eight week workout program that gives you a little bit of a taste of everything that FitOn has to offer. Helping new users to test and try different sessions and different trainings to see what they prefer and giving new users a little bit of guidance of where and how to utilize this abundance of information.
Next up, the ‘Workouts’ tab. Now I have to say, although the design and the imagery of this slide is amazing. I found it quite overwhelming. An abundance of buttons, courses and workouts, it was hard to know where to start or what would be the best workout for me.
Did I want to do some strength work, or some Yoga? Do I start with a full program or a simple workout. And that is coming from the eyes of a fitness professional. So for a newcomer this page might be a little much.
However, after a few deeps breaths and a few minutes looking through some of the workouts and information, it was clear that FitOn is overflowing with valuable information. With nearly every type of workout you could think of,
- Meditation and more.
FitOn even goes as far as to let you refine your workout search by duration, intensity and trainer, allowing you to find just the right workout for you.
Now to the ‘Advice’ tab. The FitOn advice tab offers a range of simple and easy to follow guides for beginners, who are just starting their journey to becoming a healthier person. Breaking down their information in to four clear sections,
- Self Care
Although this section is clear and easy to follow, it is lacking any form of search bar. Preventing you from really taking deep dive into their database of information. Making it difficult to find any specific answers you are looking for. Restricting you to the few articles that they have on offer on your news feed.
I personally think this tab could really benefit from a simple search function so that users can really understand the ‘Why’ behind their decisions to really get the most out of the FitOn platform.
Entering the meals tab for the first time presents you with a series of questions around your diet and the struggles you face when trying to eat healthy. Asking you,
- How many meals do you eat per day?
- What type of diet do you follow?
- What foods do you struggle with?
- What holds you back from eating healthy?
This may not seem like much but this is valuable information when combating bad habits and developing good habits.
After you have answered these questions FitOn will generate a food plan for your personal circumstances.
You can also use this tab to access your personalized meal plan or to simply browse their database for new healthy food options to spice up your meal plan.
To access the complete meal plans and recipes you will be required to sign up for FitOn Pro. However, the meal plans and food options were quite in depth with a variety of food options. However, I think that the meal plans may be unrealistic for some people who a new to the world of health and fitness.
In my experience one of the main issues with eating healthy and being consistent is not having the time or know how cook healthy nutrition food consistently. Although FitOn provide a wide range of recipe ideas and an in depth food plan, I do not think it will be achievable for your average joe.
I think the meals tab will be best utilized by helping people outline their meal plan (e.g. 3 meals per day), then allowing users to find a handful of recipes they like and that they like and can see themselves eating consistently.
The friends tab is possibly my favourite section of the FitOn app. The function is simple but extremely powerful. The friends tab offers you a social media like place to connect with your friends and other users, express your struggles and share your triumphs.
When you are starting anything new, you are delicate, and the slightest bit of criticism can knock you off course. Far too delicate for the worlds of social media. The friends tab allows you to curate a safe and empowering list of friends who are on the same journey as you to build each other up rather than pull each other down. And I think this is an invaluable part of the FitOn platform.
What We Like About FitOn
High Quality Content
There is no denying that the production value of the FitOn app is impeccable. The colour scheme, the style, the video and sound quality, the coaches.
The programming is more advanced than a lot of fitness apps. FitOn offers programs that span several weeks, whereas many fitness platforms out there only offer a library of standalone workouts that users have to piece together themselves.
Great Beginner Program
The beginner ‘Revitalize’ program when I first opened the FitOn app was amazing. It was an 8 week program, with 2 workouts per week that gives you a taste of everything the FitOn platform has to offer in a reasonable and manageable timeframe.
You can have unlimited access to the FitOn program for $163.34 when you sign up for a year, which works out to be around $3.20 per week. At the time of writing this they were offering 70% off bringing it to just $48.99 for a years subscription.
Little Bit Overwhelming And Intimidating
The FitOn app is overall extremely welcoming. However, the combination of the fast paced sleek design, the seemingly endless array of workouts, clad with some of your favourite celebrities may be enough to send some newcomers into a bit a of a tailspin.
Advice Tab Has No Search Function
The advice page offers a clear and concise breakdown of all the different pillars of the FitOn program. However, without a basic search function you are unable to utilize their database of information and limited to the information and articles they suggest.
The Bottom Line
FitOn is a digital fitness platform that offering users access to world-class trainers, rich content and engaging and easy to use tools no matter what life throws their way.
Newcomers may find the FitOn platform to be intimidating or overwhelming at first, however I implore you to push through and give it a crack.
Their Revitalize program is a great way to kickstart your health and fitness journey, their library of blogs is full of invaluable tips and tricks and their nutritional advice and recipes are high quality. FitOn is an extremely useful tool for beginner or intermediate users trying to stay fit and healthy, as they deliver on their promise of a delivering rich engaging high quality content bought to you by world class trainers.
