About Genesis Fitness

Genesis Fitness is an Australian owned gym chain first opened in 1997 in Melbourne and has since grown to over 39 locations across Australia. They are passionate about ‘creating a fitness community that is inclusive, encouraging and empowering for everyone.’

Genesis’ pillars of health are based around:

⇒ Fitness (Cardiovascular health)
⇒ Strength & Toning (Muscular Health)
⇒ Weight Loss (Healthy Body Composition)
⇒ Wellness (Mental Health).

What makes Genesis Different?

Genesis is in the middle of the pack in terms of cost and is quite similar to gyms like Fitness First, Goodlife and Crunch, however, there are a few perks that help them to stand out from the rest.

✓ Genesis offer new members a free fitness consultation, personal training session and training plan upon joining. They also offer regular check-ins every 12 weeks to keep you on track.

✓ They offer Paid in Full memberships, which works out to be a cheaper weekly rate than pay as you go options.

✓ They are Australian owned.

✓  They offer a small group & nutrition training, branded as ‘the coaching zone’ for an extra cost, which members are raving about. This gives you a more individualised program without having to pay for expensive personal training.

What Limitations does Genesis have?

✗ Genesis don’t offer 24/7 access at all of their locations.

✗ Genesis are more expensive than other gym brands such as Anytime Fitness, Jetts and Snap Fitness.

✗ Like many other big gym brands, many members experience frustrations and unexpected costs when trying to cancel their membership at Genesis. It’s very important that you thoroughly read and understand you contract before signing up.

✗ Personally, I’ve found Genesis to be a little pushy when signing up new clients. I felt quite coerced when I first stepped foot in their facility to ask about gym membership, rather than encouraged. This may be a little intimidating for those new to their fitness journey.

Is Genesis Open 24/7?

Some Genesis locations are open 24/7, however, not all of them are. If you definitely want access at all hours, you’ll need to check with your local Genesis to confirm whether this service is on offer or not.

Does Genesis Offer a Free Trial?

Genesis offers a 5-day free trial period, with no strings attached.  Visit their website to see which location is closest to you in order to get started.

This may be a good or bad thing depending on who you are and your motivation for trialling the facility.

Genesis Special Offers

Genesis Fitness do offer promotions several times a year – most often these involve the waiving of sign up fees. Keep an eye out for these on their website.

Does Genesis Offer Student Discounts?

Genesis Fitness does offer student discounts, however, these vary considerably between locations so contact your local Genesis location to see what their student membership entails.

Does Genesis Have Classes?

Genesis Fitness does offer group fitness classes, which include:

  • Zumba
  • Barre
  • Cycle
  • Yoga
  • Pilates
  • Body Pump
  • Body Combat
  • Boxing
  • Genesis Fit
  • Abs

You can use your Genesis membership at any location if you purchase a ‘gold membership’ at an additional cost.

How do I Cancel My Genesis Membership?

In order to cancel your Gym membership, you can either talk to your club in person or use the following contact form to do so.

If you are on a fixed term contract, cancelling before the end of the agreement may incur some cancellation charged, so make sure you’re aware of these before terminating your membership.
