Tracking Tab
Including a basic tutorial on the tracking page of the Lose It platform is an invaluable addition.
Tutorials are essential for guiding users through the features and functionalities of an app, particularly when it involves tracking meals and utilizing a new platform.
Lose It takes a proactive approach to ensure that users can fully utilize the app right from the start.

Moving on, the My Day tab is where you’ll find a clear visual representation of your daily kilojoule (or calorie) and macronutrient goals, which plays a crucial role in keeping you accountable.
The visual display provides an easy-to-understand snapshot of your progress toward meeting your daily targets. This feature is especially beneficial for individuals who prefer a visual representation of their goals rather than just numerical values.
By having a clear overview of your kilojoule and macronutrient goals, you can make informed decisions about your food choices throughout the day. It allows you to track your intake and ensure that you stay on track towards your desired calorie and macronutrient balance.
The accountability aspect of this feature can be highly motivating, as it serves as a constant reminder of your goals and encourages mindful eating habits. It helps you maintain discipline and make adjustments if necessary to align with your target goals.

The combination of simplicity and visual cues helps draw attention to key functions, promoting regular usage and making it convenient for users to track their nutrition and activity.
Regarding the automatic setting of daily macronutrient targets, it’s important to note that while the app may not provide automated targets, it does equip users with the necessary tools and information to set their own goals.
Individual macronutrient needs can vary based on factors such as age, gender, activity level, and personal health goals. Allowing users to set their own targets enables a more personalized approach to nutrition tracking.
However, to address the need for guidance on appropriate macronutrient goals, Lose It could consider incorporating educational resources or recommendations within the app.

| Lose It Limitations
No Exercise Or Meal Plans
While Lose It is a powerful progress tracker and provides tools for monitoring calorie intake and macronutrients, it does not offer specific exercise recommendations or meal plans within the app.
However, it’s important to note that Lose It focuses on creating a personalized experience, allowing users to set their own goals and track their progress. This flexibility enables individuals to tailor their own exercise and meal plans based on their preferences and needs.
If you’re seeking additional guidance on meal plans or exercise programs, there are numerous resources available outside of the Lose It app. You can consult with a registered dietitian or nutritionist who can create a personalized meal plan based on your goals and dietary requirements. Additionally, working with a fitness professional or personal trainer can help you develop an exercise program that aligns with your fitness level and objectives.
While Lose It may not provide these specific recommendations internally, it can still be a valuable tool for tracking your progress, monitoring your calorie intake, and staying accountable to your goals. By combining the tracking capabilities of Lose It with external guidance from professionals, you can create a comprehensive and well-rounded approach to your health and wellness journey.
Annoying Ads
Lose It’s excellent calorie tracking platform and user-friendly interface can indeed be affected by the presence of full-screen advertisements, which may disrupt the user experience for some individuals.
While advertisements can be a way for developers to generate funds and support the platform, it is important to balance this with maintaining a seamless user experience. Implementing a banner system that displays advertisements without interrupting the user’s interaction with the app would be a valuable solution.
By utilizing banner advertisements, Lose It can continue to generate revenue while allowing users to effortlessly navigate the platform and access its features. Banner ads are less intrusive as they occupy a smaller portion of the screen and do not interfere with the user’s interaction or hinder their ability to track their progress or utilize the app’s functions.
Finding a balance between advertising and user experience is crucial for maintaining user satisfaction and engagement. Implementing non-intrusive banner ads would help preserve the positive aspects of Lose It’s interface and ensure a smoother user experience while still supporting the developers financially.
Overall, the use of banner advertisements can be a potential solution that strikes a balance between raising funds and providing users with an uninterrupted and enjoyable experience on the Lose It platform.

User Reviews
Lose It is easy to use. I signed up for the year subscription which is reasonable (~$40/yr 2023). Took me a minute to find my way through the features. I can copy meals from one day to the next etc, scan anything. Its really flexible. I’m loving it. If you have other smart fitness devices you can sync them. Has a current tracker at top of page & a Dashboard page and more. Add a new weight when you want etc. Very happy, would recommend.

★★★★★
I love it, I used Noom to lose 50+ pounds but cost a lot more. I’ve gained back some, so back to tracking food and walking. Lose It! links to Google fit for steps and the database is AMAZING! I’ve tried many, it beats them all free or paid. I’m an expert as I build databases and have tried many. It’s easy to use and I have yet to scan a food that isn’t there. It also has local specialties in remarkable menu detail. All that free or $20 1st year for more. Thank you Lose It!
– Kim
★★★★★
I am not taking advantage of any premium options and the ads are only once a day or so for me. I like the layout, and getting everywhere is easy and quick and direct so that the “work” of logging isn’t a chore. I like making my own foods/recipes but the amount of things people have already entered is vast and helpful. The opening quiz felt detailed and appropriate and it’s fun being able to see my progress and targets in a visual way.
– Vincent
★★★★★
Database has TONS of foods and brands, calories and macros are consistent to packaging, the app is simple to learn and use, the personalization for calorie goals and fitness levels has been very useful to me on my weight loss journey, and the addition of accomplishment badges makes it fun and gives you a little motivation boost. Appreciate the newsletter with tips. The aggressive and intrusive full page ads are terrible and too frequent, also inappropriate.
– K.D.
★★★☆☆
I met my goal of losing 22 lbs in a little over five months. I entered everything into the app, and it configured my diet plan perfectly! Update: Been using this app for 5 years. Suddenly, there are tons of ads on the free version. You have to watch a clip after almost every meal you enter. I’d use a different app at this point.
